I can't ignore an impassioned plea. AnonymousFred posted an emotionally-charged comment to the entry announcing the Cocoa Graphics Tutorial. Fred just wants to know how to export his view contents as JPEG or BMP. Here's a small snippet

After a long wait, the time has finally come for some real Delicious Library 2 details and screenshots. I can't show everything because some of the features integrate with parts of Leopard which are still under NDA, but there is plenty to dive into

I just took at look at some of the web stats, and the thing that continues to amaze me is how many visitors to Theocacao and Cocoa Dev Central continue to be from Windows machines

The newest version of THCanvasView adds some obvious features, such as draggable selection rects and basic item arranging. There are now better options for coloring and the generated image previews get frames and drop shadows

Greg Robbins and David Phillip Oster of Google gave a fantastic presentation on the Objective-C Google Data API at CocoaHeads Silicon Valley tonight. Greg came all the way from Seattle, and he was met by our largest attendance yet (outside of WWDC)

Mimicking the Finder icon view isn't entirely easy. Drawing the icons is one thing, but handling drag and drop, repositioning, adjusting the scroll view when the content changes — it all takes some work. To ease the burden, I'd like to share THCanvasView with you
Greg Robbins and David Phillip Oster of Google have accepted our invitation to do a presentation on the Objective-C Google Data APIs at CocoaHeads Silicon Valley next Thursday, October 11. The meeting will be at 7:30pm at Town Hall on the Apple Campus
Oct 02 — 15
Eric Buck recently posted a message to Apple's cocoa-dev mailing list which seeks a list of frameworks that should be considered part of Cocoa. This is like walking into a science convention and asking what the beginnings of life are — a lot of different answers
Sep 30 — 18
I know this will come as a shock, but not all images are square. Nor are all drawing canvases. In these cases, you may want to scale an image without getting it all stretchy. Here's a bit of code to help
Sep 29 — 24
In the ongoing quest to remember that not everyone is a Cocoa expert, I put together a small image viewing app which shows you a number of basic Cocoa techiques. Everyone, meet SimplePicture. SimplePicture — everyone

I guess I should have mentioned it sooner. I'm on a bit of a break. It's well past time for it. CocoaHeads for next Thursday is still on the agenda. More details on that shortly
Jul 14 — 18
I quickly put together a set of iPhone wallpaper for your enjoyment. I have a hard time picking favorites so I just grabbed what I thought was a pretty good starter set. If you guys and gals like these, maybe I'll post some more. Put that nice hi-res screen to work
Jul 11 — 9
It's been a busy week. There's no planned topic for CocoaHeads tomorrow night, but I'd still like to try to find one. If anyone would like to volunteer, send me an email. I'd personally be interested in hearing from any icon designers in the area.

Lifted, the short that accompanies Ratatouille, is available from iTunes. This is my favorite Pixar short. Even if you haven't seen it, go ahead and buy it anyway. Perfecto
Jul 04 — 40
I'm pretty picky about cases. I basically want the slimmest, most subtle thing possible. No visible stiching, no straps, no design elements. Just a cover with minimal texture. I want the Safari of cases. The best option I've found so far is the Incase Folio for iPhone. Any other suggestions?
Jul 02 — 24
There's no way I can realistically give unbiased an review of the iPhone, but it feels silly if I don't say something. My personal opinion is that it exceeds even my high expectations. But you don't have to take my word for it, I think you'll find that's a common reaction

I made an unscheduled trip to downtown Palo Alto yesterday. In a bizarre twist of fate, I just happened to stumble on a taping of Diggnation outside of the Apple Store. I stopped by for a minute just to say hi to Alex and tell him I like the show. Kevin was busy, but I stayed to watch the first few minutes of the taping
Jun 24 — 10
I saw a screening of Ratatouille at Pixar on Saturday night. You need to see this movie. I'm serious. Honestly, I don't get much out of most movies. Not because they're not good, but they just don't do anything for me personally. They don't make me feel anything or surprise me. Ratatouille does both and constantly evokes an sense of awe
Jun 20 — 5
I thought we were essentially done with posts from CocoaHeads from WWDC, but Travis from the Apple Store SF sent me a photo that was too good to pass up. He mentioned that he was expecting 30-40 people, and configured the sound accordingly. As you can see from the photo, there were a few more than that, which is why it was difficult to hear in the back
Jun 20 — 3
Steve Weller emailed me to tell me the audio he recorded for the CocoaHeads session at the Apple Store last week is available for download as 131MB of MP3 goodness. I haven't listened to it yet, but keep in mind the whole event was rearranged at the last minute, so we all had to sort of wing it. Thanks to Alien Orb Software for hosting the download
Jun 19 — 6
In all of the craziness of WWDC, I didn't get a chance to talk about the MacTech 25. This probably isn't news to most of you, but the MacTech 25 is a list of some excellent people, all of whom are selected by the Mac community. I feel incredibly privileged to be part of this group
Follow your bliss.
